The Guide to Night on Broadway in Downtown L.A.

Now in its fourth year, Night on Broadway is an arts and music festival produced in celebration of Councilmember José Huizar’s Bringing Back Broadway initiative, a 10-year strategic economic development plan launched in 2008 for the revitalization of the historic Broadway corridor in Downtown Los Angeles. Free and open to all ages, Night on Broadway is taking place from 3pm to midnight on Saturday, Jan. 27. The massive event spans ten stages, ten city blocks and six historic theatres: Million Dollar Theatre, Globe Theatre, Los Angeles Theatre, The Orpheum Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Theatre at the Ace Hotel.

One of L.A.'s most popular festivals, Night on Broadway features everything from live music and DJs to a seven-story Ferris Wheel, William Close & the Earth Harp, Technology Zone, Kids Zone, art installations, food trucks and much more. Last year's event drew 75,000 people and this year the attendance is expected to be even higher.

This year’s festival main stage, the Broadway Stage will be at the intersection of 1st Street and Broadway. Dance the night away with performances by The B-52s, WAR, La Santa Cecilia, and Raul Pacheco and the Immaculate Conception.

The Million Dollar Theatre presents Recordando la Epoca de Oro (“Recalling the Golden Age”), featuring performances by Angelica Maria & Angelica Vale, Lupita Infante, Omar Arreola, Esteban Leon, Margarita Luna, and Antonio Aguilar Jr., along with mariachi and ballet folklorico acts.

The Los Angeles Theatre will host four performances by the world-renowned Lucent Dossier Experience, a cirque-style collective that combines live music, technologically advanced visuals, powerful dancers and aerial artists, and stunning fire shows. In the basement, get into the groove with DJ sets by John Kelley, Piepshow, Jason Esun, Drew Holly, and Randy J.

The DTLA classic, "TEASE, If You Please!" will take over the Palace Theatre with a showcase that represents the history of Broadway. The show will feature different celebrities, events/venues and the esthetic of the Golden Age of Broadway in Los Angeles. The audience will experience a high-energy show with choreographed dance acts, live singers, and dazzling costumes that will be fun for the whole family.

The Globe Theatre will host Funkmosphere, L.A.'s longest-running party for 80's-inspired funk, boogie, electro and modern funk. Music provided by Stones Throw artist and founder DāM-FunK, plus residents Laroj, Billy Goods, Randy Watson, Matt Respect and Eddy Funkster.

Rock out at The Orpheum Theatre, which will feature some of the best L.A.-based artists in the neo-psychedelic genre including Mothlight, The Entire Universe, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, JJUUJJUU, Morgan Delt, Sugar Candy Mountain, and Dead Meadow.

Enjoy the sounds of Latinx Old School vs. New School at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, featuring performances by Los Angeles Negros de Guillermo Lynch, Buyepongo, Los Romanticos de Mexico, Quitapenas, Combo Chimbita, and Chulita Vinyl Club.

DTLA PROUD will take over 4th Street for their annual Block Party, which will feature stage performances by local LGBTQ talent including Tito Soto, The Hound, Gia Gunn, Sasha Colby, Joseph Eid, Pickle, Exposure Drag, New Jalisco Extravaganza Show, and Men in Heels. The DTLA PROUD Beer Garden (21+) will feature DJ sets by Josh Peace, David Oh, Sindri Salad, Brian Starr, DJ Addiction, Stanley Frank and David Banjela.

Located at 5th Street, the Viva! Stage will spotlight up and coming Los Angeles area talent. Explore the state of indie music and the current L.A. rock ‘n’ roll community with performances from Inner Wave, Jasper Bones, Speak, August Eve, Prettiest Eyes, Los Blenders, Dreamlover, and The Pantones.

Hosted by women’s rights activist Madame Gandhi, Ladies First will take over 8th Street with a night of art, fashion, music, dance, and all things girl power. Dance to live performances by Denise Zaval, Ezinma, Jessica Reynoso and DJ sets by Bella Fiasco, DJ Zo, Them Jeans, Club Aerobics, Honey, Val Fleury, Nala, and Lani Love.

The Los Angeles Derby Dolls will present Dolls on Broadway and showcase their Junior Derby Dolls, ages 7-17, their up-and-coming skaters and elite-level skaters in a heavy hitting, action packed triple header! The Dolls on Broadway Stage will also feature three sets by Metalachi. Established in Veracruz, Mexico circa 1982, "often referred to as the greatest heavy metal band to ever live. Always referred to as… Metalachi!"

If you live, work, or plan on visiting Downtown L.A. the weekend of Night on Broadway, please plan accordingly - the street closures on Broadway start at noon on Friday, Jan. 26. Night on Broadway will take place from 3pm-midnight on Broadway between 1st Street and Olympic in Downtown L.A. Traffic is expected to be very heavy due to street closures, so taking public transportation is strongly recommended.

• Go Metro: Take the Metro Red or Purple Line to Pershing Square Station. Round trip fare is $3.50 + $1 for a reusable TAP card, per person.
• Metro Bike Share: It’s the newest way to get around Downtown L.A.! Grab a bike from any Metro Bike Share station, go for a ride, and give it back at any other Bike Share station on 3rd/7th/9th and Broadway.
• Driving: For those who decide to drive, parking is available at the City’s Pershing Square Parking Garage at posted hourly rates. A flat rate of $7 is available for vehicles entering after 5pm, and exiting before 2am. Surface lots and garages in the area offer varying commercial prices.
